Color in Space Inc. was founded by Emily Lauderback in 2005 after she had been working as an independent architectural/interior designer and color consultant for two years. During those first two years, Emily was also employed as a Math Coach within the Seattle Public School District training teachers on the most current curriculum and methodology. Her background in education and passion for empowering individuals is the mission behind Color in Space Inc. It's in Emily's spirit to serve the masses, and Color in Space is her way of blending her decade-long education career and design work.

Color in Space Inc. began as the staff within SPACE: A Design Build Collective’s showroom in the Phinney Ridge/Greenwood neighborhood in Seattle, WA. SPACE: A Design Build Collective serves as a referral and marketing network--a “one-stop-shop”--for residential design and remodeling. Maintaining a physical storefront from 2005 to 2010, Color in Space Inc. established a unique business model to coach customers on the remodeling process. Additionally, Color in Space designers assisted customers with color consultation and interior design within the SPACE showroom. The service that Color in Space provided was primarily educational in nature.

With the shift in local economies and advantages the internet now provides, Color in Space is providing its services exclusively through the internet and its sales of color consultation tools. Color in Space created the Dwelling Palettes® to provide a more in-depth and foolproof approach to choosing paint color: one that counteracts the over-simplified way the large paint companies currently practice. The current practice actually perpetuates misunderstanding and creates disharmony within architectural color designs, when customers do not have the proper education about colors’ properties. The intentional selection of the twelve colors within each of our color palettes and designs ensures that they are energetically balanced. The twelve colors complement each other and overall create a very naturally harmonious atmosphere. We hope that you enjoy our enlightening paint store experience.
